Colette Accessories Haul + OOTD

Hi all!
This morning when I checked my email, I got an email from Colette Accessories, informing me of a sale in all their stores: a whopping 50% off ALL jewellery.

Here's what I got! A few statement necklaces, because that's whats I'm into at the moment. I don't wear chunky bracelets because I'm always wearing a watch and my pandora bracelet.

Zahara Chain & Feather Earrings ($9.95 $4.98)

Zahara Rings On Rope ($12.95 $6.48)

Tara Enamel Oval Statement Necklace ($14.95 $7.48)

Naomi Mosaic Metal Necklace ($9.95 $4.98)

Bobby Tribal Jewel Necklace ($19.95 $9.98)

I love statement necklaces because that's what makes a plain top much more interesting.
Here's what I wore today:

Top: Cotton On
Shorts: Chicabooti
Necklace: Wholesale-dress here

It was so good that I was wearing this black top whilst shopping for statement necklaces in Colette cos I just held it up to my neck and it just matched perfectly with my black top haha.

Considering that I got everything for less than $10, that's a pretty damn good deal. Colette was already affordable to begin with, but an extra 50% off is amazing :)

I'm not sure how long the sale goes on for, I'm guessing for the whole weekend, since it started today. But you need to be a member to get 50% off, but that's fine cos you can just sign up in store (signing up is totally free btw).

Happy shopping! X

Geometric Pastel Nails

It's been a while since my last nail post!

I was looking through my nail polish collection and felt like pastel coloured nails, so I pulled out a few of these cute colours and found this pic.

Face Of Australia - Minty Mojito
China Glaze - Something Sweet
China Glaze - Agent Lavender
Ulta3 - Lily White

Inspiration picture (from tumblr)

I took away the black and added the green for a wearable look.

With this design, technically, you're supposed to paint one layer, wait for it to dry, stick a piece of tape on your nail and then paint on another colour, wait for it to dry, then peel the tape away, then you gotta tape it in another way and then paint over..........
It's wayyyy too time consuming. I don't have enough patience to tape on my nails over and over, plus, it would get really really messy and the tape would be leaving missing blotches on your nails.

So I just painted it over using a nail art brush.
I drew the outline first, then used the normal nail polish brush to fill it in.
See the trick to this, is using the white nail polish to cover up your harsh edges haha.

I'm sorry I didn't take pictures throughout the process.

Let's take my index finger as an example.
1. I painted on pink first (2 coats), let that dry for a little bit,
2. I then drew a green line diagonally using a nail art brush, using that as my border, and then using the normal brush of my green nail polish to fill it in. Wait for it to dry. Doesn't have to be completely dry though.
3. I painted on the purple to the edge.
4. Using a thin nail art brush, dipped it in white nail polish and outlined the border of the colours.

Working progress:
Scrap paper and thin nail art brushes. I just got mine on ebay for like $1 or something haha.

Before clean up. I usually do my nails at night, cos then I can clean up around the edges in the morning when I take a shower. Warm water helps rub away the excess hanging on your edges of your finger without having to use acetone to remove it.
After clean up:

At first I was unsure if I was liking it or not, I felt like it was missing, like, a pastel yellow or something. But then I thought there would be a party on my nails haha.
If I added the yellow, it would probably look kind of like an easter egg don't you think? Perfect for the upcoming season hehe.

I already posted this up on twitter and facebook so I feel a bit repetitive now...
Have a happy weekend! :)

MARCS Annie Shopper

I think I just found my perfect tote bag.
It's roomy, fits all the things that I pointlessly carry around with me all day. Seriously how is it that I carry around so little, but my bag always weighs a ton?!

It has a detachable inner bag an and a satchel strap if I want to wear the little bag separately.
It's perfect for uni! And I'm glad I chose navy.

GEO Super Nudy Pink Circle Lens

Hiii! Recently I purchased two new pair of circle lens from Lisa who runs Infinite Vogue, a shop on facebook that sells circle lens, bags and shoes. Circle lens start from $15 and she's based in Sydney so you can either pick up or get it shipped to you fast! :)

I ordered mine on Sunday and they were ready for me to pick up by Wednesday, I think. So fast! Very happy, thank you!

Anyway, I'm gonna show you one of the lens I got and they're the Super Nudy Pink. The difference between Super Nudy and the "normal" Nudy lens are the diameter size. Super Nudy makes your eyes appear larger. It's 14.7mm compared to 14mm of the normal ones.

I did a review on the normal nudy lens in blue here. One thing I definitely love about the Nudy series is that your eye colour kind of peeps out from underneath the pixellated design of the lens. This blending of your natural eye colour and the lens makes it less harsh to look at and even though it's pink lens, they're not scary at all. It's kinda sweet actually :)

The difference between Super Nudy and normal Nudy is that you can see theres an outer border around the rim of the lens. It's not solid black but it's defined which gives you a natural dolly eye.

Design 5/5
Comfort 5/5
Enlargement 4.5/5

Overall, I'm loving these lenses :D

Glossybox AU - March 2012

It's that time of the month again, my Glossybox for the month of March has arrived!

As always, packaging is cute as.
One thing I noticed different about this month's info card is that there are actually 18 products on it! They actually show the other products that other boxes might have had if you had missed out on it, since you only get 5 products in a box at one time.

The only thing that's missing is the price and sizes. I don't know if I've been sent a sample or full sized product.

Here's what was in my box. At first sight, I was disappointed. Skincare? I honestly don't pay much attention to facial cleansers (which I probably should, I know) so when I saw it, I was like, "Eh...I probably wouldn't use this."

Upon another look, I realised that all my products are samples, and that there were no full sized products. Well I'm not sure about the concealer though.

So many products!

Here are my items on the list:

#07 EAU THERMALE AVENE - Cleanser & Toner
I've never heard of this brand before, and I'm been meaning to check out a few skin care items, so I'm gonna give this a go, but no promises as to if I'll be sticking to this routine.
I'm currently using St. Ive's Apricot Scrub, if I remember (or bothered) to wash my face.

#08 KLORANE - Dry Shampoo
Again, I have never heard of this brand before, but since I do love anything to do with dry shampoos, I wanna see how this goes.

#16 THE BODY SHOP - Chocolate Body Butter sample
&
#17 THIN LIZZY - Concealer

I never end up using samples that come in these packets. I don't know why haha. I still have foundation samples in their packets too. I just never really use any kind of samples in packets. But since it is The Body Shop and it's chocolate, I'll give it a shot.

The concealer! Wow, I was actually looking for a new concealer and was about to buy the Maybelline Lumi Touch Illuminating Concealer yesterday but I'm glad I didn't cos this concealer is really good from what I've tried so far. I applied it to under my eyes and some pimple scars and this thing covers up goooood!

The consistency is kind of thick, but blends out well and it's kind of sticky but nothing that loose powder on top can't resolve. I love that it's my shade too (lucky!) in Oriental Doll.

Left: Blended. Right: Swatched
Another thing they added was this bracelet thing......and according to the info card, it's a "power balancing bracelet...often worn by athletes who find that it supports their strength and flexibility"
UMMM, first thought of mine was: "It's a piece of rubber that looks like it has some silver stickers stuck on the side. How's this supposed to help?"
*puts it in the pile of things I'll never use*

So overall, the box was once again, okay. According to the products I got, I guess I could use them fully. To be honest, none of the boxes I've received in the past, have I ever used every single product. Maybe this time around, I will actually utilise them all. Except the bracelet LOL.

My favourite product in this box would definitely be the Thin Lizzy concealer! That thing is amazing. No wonder they advertised it on tv for a long time, that concealer does wonders.

Hope your Glossybox was ok!
Although, I think I'm definitely gonna take a break from beauty sample boxes.

Bag organisation in your wardrobe

Do you have that extra space in your wardrobe? Or maybe you wanna dedicate an extra part of your wardrobe for your bags, cos well...if shoes can have their own section, why can't bags!

Instead of hanging your bags on a rickety hat stand, that might fall over any minute, instead of hanging your bags behind your door which prevents the door from staying open properly...why not hang them in your wardrobe, out of the way AND stays much more organised!

I'm lucky enough to have a big built in wardrobe in my room, and so I decided to clean out one section of my wardrobe which clothes I haven't worn in a good few years, and make a home for my bags.

I used to just chuck my bags along the sides of my wall of my room whenever I come home, and it makes my room look messy and cluttered. As my mum always says, "You never know who's going to come to our house" and I don't want people to judge my room for its messiness. Eep.

So anyway, I ended up asking on my twitter, what could i do about my bag storage, and Sakura came to my rescue and blogged about certain storage ideas, and I thought this idea most appealed to me :) Check out her other ideas of bag storage here

So anyway, all you pretty much need is space in your wardrobe. And these cute little S hooks. I grabbed them from my bargain store for $2 for a pack of 3.

So you know in your wardrobe you have that bar thing, you just hook the S hook on it, and then hand your bags with the other curve of the hook! Easy peasy :)

For the thin strap/lighter bags, you can just put two on one hook.

And as for clutches that don't have a chain?
No worries, just fold the flap over a coat hanger than hang it!

Your bags are now organised, you can see what bag you feel like wearing without having to look all over your room for the perfect one that matches your outfit, plus with it being in the wardrobe, you can just hold it against your outfit with the mirror :) Then you just hang it back up and all is good.

Oh and you can also tell which bags you have too much of. It saves yourself from buying another bag only to come home and realise you have an almost similar bag in the hidden corners of your room haha.

For the extra space at the bottom, you can even store your shoes :) I usually don't store my shoes in my room though, I have a shoe rack downstairs cos I don't really like the shoe smell in my room haha.

Hope you found this post useful!
:)

P.S. Hello hello to my new followers! Thanks for taking an interest in my little blog ^_^

Urban Decay Naked 2 x Sleek i-Divine Storm

Today I'm gonna be comparing two palettes, the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 and the Sleek Storm Palette.
To be honest, I think Naked Palette 1 is much more comparable to the Storm Palette, since it has more colour, whereas Naked 2 is more of browny earthy tones.

But what's the point of getting Naked 1 if I already have the Sleek Storm? So in a way...it's kinda like me having both Naked palettes, cos the Storm is similar. Yay :)

STORM PALETTE

I got the Storm Palette around this time last year, because it was around that time that everyone was talking about how amazing this palette was, and since it was about $15AUD on ebay, I thought, "Why not?"
There are other colour palettes from Sleek, but I chose this one because it had the colours that I was more likely to wear.

It's a combination of matte and shimmer shades, ranging from your wearable neutrals to the funky berrys and green and blue shades, for those days you just want to switch it up.
It also has a mirror, but honestly, I never use mirrors in my eyeshadow palettes, do you?

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows are really amazing, especially with the metallic/shimmery ones. It's soft and velvety. The only shade I'm a tad disappointed with is the third one on the top row, you can't really pick up the colour without a good eye primer underneath. But it's still a pretty shade of soft brown.

Storm Palette in Direct Sunlight
Look how pretttty the shades are! It's almost like a rainbow :)
All swatches are without primer.

Storm Palette in Indoor Lighting.

To the owners of a Naked 1 palette, don't you think the Storm Palette is kind of similar? With the blue and golds and that copper colour. Let me know your thoughts!

Naked Palette 2

Version 2 of the Naked Palettes holds more browns, and I think cooler tones than Naked 1. The packaging of N2 is definitely more sturdier and the audible click when you close it makes you reassured that your palette won't open up in your bag accidently, if you decide to carry it around when travelling.

True to its word, the texture of these eyeshadows are really nice. They're smooth, buttery, velvety and pigmented. I had no trouble swatching any of these colours, except Foxy. Although Foxy is smooth to the touch and soft, it just didn't appear on skin. Nothing a good brush and primer can't fix, though.

My shades that stood out to me and quickly became my favourites were Suspect, Pistol, Verve and YDK. All metallic, all buttery, all pigmented and soo pretty!

Did anyone notice an almost dupe between the two palettes?
Urban Decay's popular shade "Half Baked" and the first colour on the Storm palette. The storm palette doesn't have any names for its shades.
I'd say Half Baked is a little more golden. But they do look very similar!

I threw in a swatch of "Chopper" from N2, since it looked similar on the palette, but it's definitely darker.

Sleek Storm vs Urban Decay Naked 2

So there you have it!
I definitely think Sleek is worth  checking out since it's only a fraction of the price of Urban Decay but you're still getting top quality similar looking eyeshadows :) Sleek also has more palettes of different themes if you don't particularly like the Storm colour scheme.

I love both palettes and I'm gonna give them some more lovin ;)
