Update on Maybelline Gel Liner

I should have done this before I wrote the review below, but I tried the Maybelline gel liner out today on my top lid and I'm pleased to say that it was long lasting (I wore it for 7 hours) and didn't smudge at all :)

I think the key is less product and slowly build it up rather than just drawing a thick line straight out. You know what I mean?

I know my eyebrows need tweezing LOL and I took this when I got home which explains why I'm flushed cos I walked home :)

But yeah as you can see, the top line is still intact! Its a little light but thats only because I hardly use a lot of product when lining the top of my eyes.

So yeah, all in all. Do try out this eyeliner if you're not willing to fork out the extra money for the more bigger brand eyeliners. I'm not sure about how fast it dries up since it is pretty cheap ... but I'll let you guys know!

I'm gonna try the Dolly Wink liquid liner, once I get a hold of it >:)

Maybelline EyeStudio vs. MAC Fluidline

(Pic Heavy)

Here's my review on the to gel liners that I own. I thought my MAC was getting a little dry since I've had it forever and I thought it was time to upgrade.

Presenting:

I got this for $13.56 at Priceline.
Shade: Blackest Black

It also came in a brown colour too.

First impressions before opening the packet:
- It comes with a brush = YAY bonus, tip looks relatively thin. Don't need to fork out money to buy a eyeliner brush.
- The picture on the front looks amazing. But hey that's whats supposed to lure you in, and since lots of girls like the winged eyeliner look, they'll be wanting to buy this product and try it out.
- Price! For less than $14, why not? ;)

What it says on the packaging:

Intense Colour
Smudgeproof
Waterproof
24HR

How to apply:
1. Dip tip of brush into gel formula and wipe off excess on rim of jar.
2. Glide brush in small stroke across the lash line
3. Continue to build line, until desired intensity is achieved.

COMPARISON PHOTOS
In the following pictures, Maybelline is on the left. MAC is on the right.
(unless otherwise stated)

Both are 3g / 0.10OZ
Both made in the USA

Front view

Side view

Showing: the brush that came with the Maybelline liner. It's got a fine tip, stiff at the bottom and a little flexible at the top which is what I like, so that you have have more control of your strokes.

I've had my MAC since end of 2009. So its over a year old. Not sure how long I'm supposed to keep my gel liner for...but I still use it everyday and it shows no sign of running out anytime soon... LOL

It's got a little crack there. Pretty sure thats because it's drying out ><

Okay so on the left is Maybelline. It's a lot blacker than MAC from what you can see. But I think thats because I got a little excited and put too much product on compared to MAC haha.

It looks less drying.

When I applied it, it glides on really easily. The brush is really good!

Here's where I was disappointed.

I ran my hand under water and then when I used my pinky to wipe across the lines, as you can tell, Maybelline wasn't very waterproof AT ALL.

And yet MAC didn't even make a single mark.

I thought maybe I was rushing it too much. Maybe I didn't give it time to dry before I ran my hand under water.

So I tried again.

Under the red line is my second attempt.

Better than before definitely. But I really wanted to prove this Maybelline gel liner was waterproof.

So this time I took a little less product, let it dry, ran my hand under water again and this is the result:

YAY! Much much less smudging and signs of waterproofness :)

Different lighting. White skin much O_O

Last test: Make up remover.

I don't know if it's my make up remover that's crappy  but with one swipe, the Maybelline almost came all off whereas the MAC didn't even budge again. LOL

Final thoughts:
I'm kinda disappointed with Maybelline. I gave it extra chances, but I still think its not as long lasting as MAC's fluidline. I'll try using it tmrw and see how it goes with staying on all day, but I personally am not expecting too much.
It's cheap though. So for its price, its alright. If you guys are looking for a cheap gel liner to start out, you can try this one. But if you wanna go straight out BAM nice gel eyeliner and not worried about your budget, I fully recommend MAC.

MAC's Fluidline retails in Australia at $32.

Its Sunday, which means its nail polish change over day :)

And I totally got lazy in watermarking my photos. Sighhh.

Current Nail Polish Collection

Hiii guys, thought I'd share my current nail polish collection with you :) I know it might not be much, or it might be A LOT to others, but I can never get enough hehe.

One big happy family :)
I decided to group them according to colour. I was gonna group them according to brand...but then I realised that there was going to be a heap of loners LOL

The reds/pinks.

The Satin ones on the left don't have names. You can see the Ulta3 names. Black plum is a dark glittery red. And the last one is korean. It's this deep deep blood red. I got it from Morning Glory. They were having a sale 2 for $5. Dunno if its still the same sale haha.

The nudes.

I'm not sure why the middle Satin colour is so drained. hahah. I think its because my mum uses it. Cos I sure havent used it.

The metallics.

OPI - Birthday babe. CG - Devotion. CG - Magical.
Envy and Devotion look similar hey. I forgot I owned a colour like that until i bought it home. I'll probably do a comparison sometime.

The orange/gold/yellow

CG - Midnight Kiss. Metallic gold. Damn this shouldve went in the metallic section haha.

Miscellaneous.

No category hahaha. I dont think I've ever worn the purple. I think I just bought it cos it looks pretty in the bottle hehe. NailTek Base coat. I've been using this ever since I got it. It keeps your nails from yellowing and it dries super fast. Love and Beauty is from Forever21 - Taupe.

I really want to get a hold of one of the Shatter polishes. OPI or CG. I don't really mind. I saw OPI's coming out with more shatter colours.

PS. It feels so good having a camera that works again.

Sleek Palette - Storm

So I received this baby yesterday in the mail. Was slightly disappointed because it took more than two weeks to get here even though the guy said that he sent it ages ago and that it should be coming, but it never came until yday. But hey, at least it didn't get lost!

I was looking up swatches of the Urban Decay Naked Palette and I came across a post that was showing dupes of the UD palette and a lot of the colours from there were on the Storm Palette. And since I don't have like $70 lying around to get the UD palette, I got the Sleek instead. For $15 on ebay hehe.

First of all, I didn't think it would be that small! It meaures around 14cm x 7.5cm. Here's a comparison with my 88 Warm Palette. But its cute and compact and that means I can carry it around with me!
But I usually don't carry makeup around in the first place anyway .... LOL

Here's my swatches. But if mine don't do justice, you can check out Ailing's! :)

There's no names for the colours...well, not that I know of anyway. On the back it has no names.

Top row.
Bottom row.
All in all, its a pretty sweet palette! Colours are nice and pigmented. I recommend this if you're just starting out with makeup. It's got your bases, crease colours, highlights. All over washes... you name it. And its nice and handy to put into your bag if you wanna bring it around with you.
And it's not too heavy on your wallet either :)

I think i'll be mostly sticking with the top row and browns...I'm not too confident wearing the greens and blues. The blue, 3rd from left on the bottom row is a really gorgeous colour though.
I know you can't really see it, but in real life, its like this bluey, purpley with purply blue sparkles. Its super pretty. (LOL fail description)

I'll post up a look with this palette sometime in the near future.

Hope that helped with any decisions on the Storm paletteeee!

I'm off to work now, drop by someone? :)

Update - haircut, notd, ootd

Hey guys, taking another break from the daily challenge and just posting up on stuff that I got up to today. You know, just the random stuff.

So um, I did get my hair cut ..... I originally had it cut with bangs, but I'm starting to not like it anymore, so I alway clip it up, like everywhere I go. LOL. Cutting my hair short makes me look a lot younger though. I like the length. Just not the bangs. I'm waiting til they grow out.

Hair before
Check out the mad discolouration where my neck is. Stupid itouch camera :(

hair after :)
It's a lot shorter, hey. :)

NOTW: Ulta3 in Lollipop Lilac. Very sparkly!

Today's OOTD. Was kinda chilly and I only had one class so I just went for lazy/comfy. But I felt a tad weird wearing the pants cos it kinda felt like I was wearing trackies outside...which is dagggy. But idk. Some people can pull off casual pants. Whereas me ......

TOP + PANTS - Supre
Cardigan - ASOS
Bag - Strandbags
Accessories - Diva

I had chicken schnitzel and chips for lunch, (Diane Sauce YUMMMMMMMMM) and it was in the shape of a heart so I hadddddd to take a photo of it hehe :)

And I FINALLY got my Sleek Palette in the mail! YAYAYYA. Shall do swatches tmrwwww.

Lots and lots of loveeeee.
P.S. follow me on twitter.
P.P.S. Youtube "Rebeccas Black - Friday" song. It is ridiculous.

Jason, my duckling (Vid)

I know if you have me on twitter and facebook, you'd know that I have a pet duck and his name is Jason :)
He's been around for about 3 weeks now and my, how he's grown!

This was when I got him, he fit right in the palm of my hand

And this is him now. So much more active, a lot less shy and no longer fits in my small palm. He loves running around and following me haha.
Oh and he probably doesn't know his name's Jason, but I like calling him it anyway LOL

And I'm laughing because 1: I tripped over grass and 2: I ran into the clothesline ^___^

Video's not much, but yeah, just thought I'd share!
