(Pic Heavy)
Here's my review on the to gel liners that I own. I thought my MAC was getting a little dry since I've had it forever and I thought it was time to upgrade.
Presenting:
I got this for $13.56 at Priceline.
Shade: Blackest Black
It also came in a brown colour too.
First impressions before opening the packet:
- It comes with a brush = YAY bonus, tip looks relatively thin. Don't need to fork out money to buy a eyeliner brush.
- The picture on the front looks amazing. But hey that's whats supposed to lure you in, and since lots of girls like the winged eyeliner look, they'll be wanting to buy this product and try it out.
- Price! For less than $14, why not? ;)
What it says on the packaging:
Intense Colour
Smudgeproof
Waterproof
24HR
How to apply:
1. Dip tip of brush into gel formula and wipe off excess on rim of jar.
2. Glide brush in small stroke across the lash line
3. Continue to build line, until desired intensity is achieved.
COMPARISON PHOTOS
In the following pictures, Maybelline is on the left. MAC is on the right.
(unless otherwise stated)
Both are 3g / 0.10OZ
Both made in the USA

Showing: the brush that came with the Maybelline liner. It's got a fine tip, stiff at the bottom and a little flexible at the top which is what I like, so that you have have more control of your strokes.
I've had my MAC since end of 2009. So its over a year old. Not sure how long I'm supposed to keep my gel liner for...but I still use it everyday and it shows no sign of running out anytime soon... LOL
It's got a little crack there. Pretty sure thats because it's drying out ><
Okay so on the left is Maybelline. It's a lot blacker than MAC from what you can see. But I think thats because I got a little excited and put too much product on compared to MAC haha.
It looks less drying.
When I applied it, it glides on really easily. The brush is really good!
Here's where I was disappointed.
I ran my hand under water and then when I used my pinky to wipe across the lines, as you can tell, Maybelline wasn't very waterproof AT ALL.
And yet MAC didn't even make a single mark.
I thought maybe I was rushing it too much. Maybe I didn't give it time to dry before I ran my hand under water.
So I tried again.
Under the red line is my second attempt.
Better than before definitely. But I really wanted to prove this Maybelline gel liner was waterproof.
So this time I took a little less product, let it dry, ran my hand under water again and this is the result:
YAY! Much much less smudging and signs of waterproofness :)
Different lighting. White skin much O_O
Last test: Make up remover.
I don't know if it's my make up remover that's crappy but with one swipe, the Maybelline almost came all off whereas the MAC didn't even budge again. LOL
Final thoughts:
I'm kinda disappointed with Maybelline. I gave it extra chances, but I still think its not as long lasting as MAC's fluidline. I'll try using it tmrw and see how it goes with staying on all day, but I personally am not expecting too much.
It's cheap though. So for its price, its alright. If you guys are looking for a cheap gel liner to start out, you can try this one. But if you wanna go straight out BAM nice gel eyeliner and not worried about your budget, I fully recommend MAC.
MAC's Fluidline retails in Australia at $32.
Its Sunday, which means its nail polish change over day :)
And I totally got lazy in watermarking my photos. Sighhh.
